The Lions are still among the NFL's most talented teams, despite what they demonstrated in their Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Jared Goff, a quarterback, has revived his career in Detroit and has performed well thus far in 2023. Goff has completed 50 of 70 ball attempts for 576 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception through the first two games. He has a quarterback rating of 109 going into Week 3.
The Lions' strongest defensive performances have come in 2023 when they are stopping the run. Detroit's defense has only allowed 172 yards on the ground through two games, which might be encouraging against an Atlanta offense that depends mostly on its rushing assault.
Atlanta Falcons what to watch:
As a master of the running game, Falcons head coach Arthur Smith has been able to deploy a three-headed monster of Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier, and Desmond Ridder with success through two weeks of play. To assist generate even more mismatches, Cordarrelle Patterson, a Swiss Army knife, may now be added to the mix.
Robinson has created 255 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in his first two NFL games and has averaged an incredible 6.2 yards per run thus far this season. In the last two seasons, Patterson has amassed nearly 2,000 scrimmage yards and 19 total touchdowns, while Allgeier and Ridder have combined for just three running scores. This season, the Lions' points allowed rank is 28th in the NFL.
