NFL 2023 Week 13

  • Matchup: Detroit Lions vs New Orleans Saints
  • Date: Thursday, Dec. 3, 2024 (Week 13)
  • Time: 12:00 ET

New Orleans Saints what to watch:

For the first time since defeating Chicago by a touchdown in early November, New Orleans is excited to be back home. In that game, Derek Carr, the quarterback for the Saints, passed for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Carr suffered a concussion the next week, missing the second half of the game; but, he bounced back last week, throwing for 304 yards versus Atlanta.

After falling to Green Bay as an 8.5-point home favorite on Thanksgiving, Detroit is coming off one of its worst performances of the year. The Lions are already under some more pressure in the NFC North standings after giving up 377 yards and turning the ball over three times. In recent years, New Orleans has dominated this head-to-head series, covering seven of the last nine encounters and winning six of them.

Detroit Lions what to watch:

With the poorest against the spread record in the NFC, New Orleans is currently experiencing its third straight two-game losing run of the year. The Saints have had difficulty covering the spread while playing as home underdogs; in their last ten games, they have done it just twice. After recovering from an injury last week, quarterback Derek Carr did not help his team.

The Detroit Lions should be well-prepared for Sunday after their setback to Green Bay. They have won by an average margin of 20.8 points per game, recovering from their previous four losses with commanding wins. Since the start of the previous season, they have covered the spread in 15 out of 20 games, including five of their past six away games.
