Indianapolis Colts what to watch:
Indianapolis' defense has gotten better during the course of the second half of the year. The Colts have gone 6-2 and given up 21.4 points per game over their last eight games. Compared to their first eight games of the season, when they gave up an NFL-worst 28.6 points per game, it is a significant improvement.
Jonathan Taylor, the running back, also gets into the game with a lot of momentum. After a tense contract dispute with the team at the start of the season, the 5-foot-10, 226-pound Taylor has scored at least one touchdown in five consecutive games. In the league, that is the second-longest active streak.
Houston Texans what to watch:
Indianapolis has struggled at this time of year, dropping five of its last six games in January and only once covering the spread. After missing the previous two games due to a concussion, quarterback C.J. Stroud of Houston easily defeated Tennessee 26-3 last Saturday, completing 24 of 32 throws for 213 yards and one score. In the victory, he made seven passes to wide receiver Nico Collins for a total of 80 yards.
In Week 2, Stroud passed for 384 yards and two touchdowns against Indianapolis, and Collins caught seven receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. Houston has covered the spread in seven of its previous ten road games, while the Colts have only covered the spread six times in their last 19 games against opponents in the division. Now that Stroud is back on the field, the Texans have more offensive firepower than the Colts because he and Collins make a lethal combination.
