Jacksonville Jaguars:
Jacksonville is coming off a 2022 campaign in which it made its first postseason appearance since 2017 and finished among the top 12 teams in the NFL in terms of points scored (404) and points allowed (350). Lawrence, who significantly improved in every key statistical category between his rookie and second seasons, had a significant role in that.
In 2022, Lawrence completed 66.3% of his throws for 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns with just eight interceptions, compared to 59.6% of his passes for 3,641 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021 with a league-high 17 interceptions. He will now have Calvin Ridley back in his arsenal after a nearly two-year absence to work on his mental health and serve a gambling suspension. Christian Kirk, Travis Etienne, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram are all returning.
Indianapolis Colts:
The quarterback for the Colts, one of the newest teams in the NFL, is a rookie. Sunday will be Richardson's professional debut. He was selected fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft and offers a unique set of skills to Indianapolis. Although Richardson's passing game still needs improvement, his running ability will make opposing defenses uneasy.
Indianapolis still boasts one of the best defensive front sevens in the league, despite the team's off-season effort towards a youth movement. Up front, two-time All-Pro DeForest Buckner leads the way, and four-time All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard is still among the best in the NFL at his position.
