Atlanta Falcons what to watch:

Coach Arthur Smith has elected to start the seasoned Taylor Heinicke, demoting Desmond Ridder to the position of Atlanta's No. 2 quarterback. Ridder has turned the ball over eight times this season and has nine scores combined from passing and rushing. For the past five weeks, the Falcons have alternated between victories and defeats, and Smith is hoping that the seasoned quarterback, who isn't scared to take risks down the field, can spark something.

Kyle Pitts, a tight end, and wide receiver Drake London, who are both still hoping to make an impact in 2023, may benefit from the QB switch. Heinicke might be successful downfield with dynamic playmakers at his disposal, creating more room for running backs Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson to rush.

Minnesota Vikings what to watch:

Jaren Hall, a rookie selected in the fifth round of the draft, will determine Minnesota's fate in Week 9, since quarterback Kirk Cousins is sidelined for the entire season due to a torn Achilles tendon. Josh Dobbs was acquired by the Vikings from Arizona this week, and they want to develop him as the starting quarterback moving forward. However, because of his system knowledge, Hall gets the first opportunity. Hall completed three of four passes for 23 yards last week while seeing little action, helping the Vikings hold onto a fourth-quarter lead in Green Bay.

Minnesota enters Atlanta riding high after winning three straight games and being in the thick of the NFC playoff chase. With Justin Jefferson, perhaps the best wide receiver in the league, expected back in a few weeks
