On Thursday Night Football, Mitch Trubisky will start at quarterback in place of Kenny Pickett, who is out with a high ankle sprain. Despite only leading Pittsburgh to two victories in five starts during the previous season, 29-year-old Trubisky is 31-24 overall as a starter in the NFL. In last week's 24-10 home defeat to Arizona, Trubisky took Pickett's place and completed 11 of 17 ball attempts for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Even though he skipped practice this week, Najee Harris is still active and will likely get a lot of touches against the Patriots, who rank fourth against the run.
New England Patriots what to watch:
Although New England suffered its second shutout loss of the season last week, losing 6-0 to the Los Angeles Chargers, it had a 257-241 advantage in total yards. Despite losing star running back Rhamondre Stevenson to a high-ankle sprain in the first quarter, the Patriots managed to hold the Chargers to just 29 points on the ground, accumulating 148 yards.
For the third week in a row and the eighth time this season, New England limited the opposition's amount of rushing yards to under ten. With 310.5 total yards allowed per game, the squad ranks sixth in the league with their strong defensive play in 2023.
