Kansas City Chiefs what to watch:

The Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the No. 1 seed Ravens in Baltimore, are playing in their fourth Super Bowl in five years. The defending champions had trouble putting together a potent offense for a large portion of 2023, with MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes committing a career-high number of turnovers while trying to find a receiving corps beset with inaccuracies.

Then, in the final moments, Mahomes' longstanding relationship with star tight end Travis Kelce heated up. Together with a strong run game and defense that featured seasoned players Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed, Kansas City found a new level in the postseason and established themselves as the Patriots of today: always technically sound and unflappable when it mattered most.

San Francisco 49ers what to watch:

After rallying from a 17-point deficit against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship, the San Francisco 49ers are making their Super Bowl comeback for the second time in five years. Having won three conference titles in coach Kyle Shanahan's previous four seasons, the team was expected to fight for the crown the whole season.

With two MVP contenders in rookie quarterback Brock Purdy and versatile running back Christian McCaffrey, along with a top-ranked "D" that included veterans like Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, and Charvarius Ward, San Francisco was an absolute force in the regular season, finishing 12-5. They began their postseason with a narrow victory over the young Packers, but they persevered well, defeating Detroit to secure a trip to the championship game.
