Detroit Lions what to watch:

In this game, the Lions are the clearly better club, and they want to finish in the playoffs as early in the season as possible. For Detroit going into this game, quarterback Jared Goff had completed 69.5% of his passes for 1,029 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions. David Montgomery, an experienced running back signed as a free agent in the summer, has produced a great deal in his debut season in Detroit. The 26-year-old running back has gained 262 yards and five touchdowns on 69 carries in three games.

The Lions have occasionally had excellent defense in 2023. They are ranked fourth in overall yards allowed per game and first in running yards allowed per game in the NFL going into this contest. Detroit is 13th in the NFL in terms of points allowed per game and sixth in terms of sacks.

Carolina Panthers what to watch:

Though still in the process of rebuilding, the Panthers are playing hard under first-year head coach Frank Reich. They haven't played an especially simple schedule, but they are still looking for their first victory of the year. With 313 total yards allowed per game, the Panthers' defense has been mediocre at best. At 176.8 passing yards per game, Carolina's passing defense is sixth in the NFL.

Although he has occasionally struggled, rookie quarterback Bryce Young—the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft—has shown glimpses of his Pro Bowl potential. Young has completed 65% of his throws for 503 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions through three games. Adam Thielen, a seasoned wide receiver who has 27 catches for 287 yards and two touchdowns going into Week 5, has been his main target.
