Washington Commanders what to watch:
Sam Howell, the quarterback for Washington, has been sacked a league-high 24 times this season, and the team needs to do a better job of guarding him. As the Chicago defense ranks the bottom in the NFL with two sacks through four games, the offensive line's assignment on Thursday should be a little simpler. Howell passed for 299 yards and three touchdowns while throwing no interceptions in the two games where he was sacked fewer than six times.
It's demonstrated by the Commanders that they can also reach the quarterback. With 13 sacks, they are tied for eighth place in the league, with three sacks coming from Montez Sweat.
Chicago Bears what to watch:
Chicago is hopeful Khalil Herbert can continue to lead its offense in a productive manner. The 25-year-old running back gained 103 of the team's 171 yards on the ground in last week's 31-28 loss to Denver, marking the third 100-yard effort of his career.
Herbert, a 2021 NFL Draft sixth-round selection, caught one of Justin Fields' four touchdown throws on Sunday. With two touchdown receptions in the second quarter, Cole Kmet tied for second most among all NFL tight ends with his third multi-TD performance since the beginning of the 2022 season. With nine touchdown catches in that time, the 24-year-old ranks third in the league at his position in the category.
